Overall Impressions of the Jade Harmony Professional
The thickness of the Harmony Professional is 3/16 of an inch, and that’s enough to find the right balance between comfort and weight. The Harmony is available in two sizes, 68 inches long and 74 inches long.
One of the cool things about this product, unlike other popular yoga mats, is that it comes in several different colors, including such unusual shades as raspberry, teal, key lime, saffron, orchid, and slate blue. So it’s not just comfortable and functional – it looks great too.
There can be some mild odor issues from time to time with the Jade Harmony Professional, but the mat is washable (by hand, not machine), so just give it some basic maintenance and cleaning and it will be fine.
Eco-friendly qualities
In addition, JadeYoga has partnered with the non-profit Trees for the Future to plant a tree every time a mat is purchased. It’s a product you can feel good about buying.
The one caution with this mat is that, because of its materials, you should never leave it out where it can be exposed to direct sunlight, because that can damage the rubber and eliminate the stickiness and grip, which is one of the mat’s best qualities. Even leaving it in the backseat of your car on a sunny day can be enough to cause it harm. Keep this mat covered at all times!
Durability and price
Click this link to see the Harmony’s current list price on Amazon. At this price, you want a mat that will last a long time, and the Jade Harmony Professional fits that description. Many yoga instructors swear by this mat. Given that they teach multiple classes per day, over a period of weeks and months, you’d have to conclude that if the mat is durable enough for them, it’s certainly durable enough for the average user.
Pros: Nice traction and durability. One of the most Earth-friendly mats; made in the USA from renewable natural rubber and biodegradable.
Cons: No major cons, but there can be occasional odor issues, and mat can be damaged from exposure to direct sunlight.
